Walk-off homer clinches 15-14 win
Carrboro, N.C. - The Speakeasy spirits remain unbeaten against the Steel String Cheetahs after winning a nail-biter of a game with a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning from the first-year Spirit only known to reporters as “Johnny.”
After the game, Spirits interim coach Jef Ryan told reporters, “This is not my job.“
The Spirits gave up 11 runs in the top of the fourth but sealed their victory by outscoring the Cheetahs 10-1 throughout the rest of the game. Jason Dewith pitched a complete game for the Spirits and didn’t stink it up too much.
When asked about his performance after the game, Dewith responded with, “let’s get a beer.”
The next spirits game is Thursday, April 25, at 7:00 pm when they play 401 Wayne, which has vowed revenge for last week’s walloping.
